KUALA LUMPUR: The government will not go to the extreme and end the services of Touch n' Go (TnG) amid plans to review its monopoly.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said TnG would not be terminated and there were plans to offer more payment methods to highway users.
He added that the plans included incorporating an open payment system at more highways, such as the Plus Expressway.
"We want to be clear that we will not take any action against TnG and it can continue to operate.
"The government will not be cruel and end TnG's services. However, we have asked the operator to provide us with some answers (to queries)," he said after the launch of the Hari Raya Rahmah Sales with 99 Speed Mart here today.
Salahuddin said his ministry, along with the Works and Transport Ministries, had agreed to discuss wider open payment methods and include more highways.
