KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin will continue to lead Sabah Umno.
He thanked party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for reappointing him as state Umno chief at the first Umno Supreme Council meeting at the World Trade Centre yesterday.
"This position comes with great responsibility and trust to help lead the party together with the president, deputy president, and supreme council members.
"We will prioritise and strengthen unity in the party, especially in Sabah, in facing the state election, which is expected to be less than two years from now," he said in a statement.
The Kinabatangan division chief also said it was essential to have cooperation and support from Umno leaders and members in Sabah.
He said after the recent party elections, those who lost might be disappointed, but it ws time for everyone to come together to restore the people's trust in Umno.
"Umno is a big family; we do not need to create sentiments about this or that person.
"Let us forget and forgive all mistakes made during the election campaign. We must start a new era in Umno with a new spirit, principles, and party struggles that we must not ignore if we want to be seen as a respectable party."
Other Sabah Umno leaders were appointed to new posts. Tuaran Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan was appointed deputy chairman of Sabah Umno.
Kimanis Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Alamin is now chairman of the Umno Overseas Club Secretariat, Beaufort member of parliament Datuk Siti Aminah Aching will lead the Agriculture, Plantation, and Commodities Secretariat, and Datuk Yakub Khan is chairman of the Unity Government Secretariat in Sabah.
