PUTRAJAYA, June 1 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) will embark on a “new trend” of transparency and accountability by informing its contributors exactly how their funds were spent.

He said the report will show not only how the money was being used, but also the people whom the donors’ funds were directly helping.

“YWP will ensure that the name of the contributor is listed and in six months’ time or less than that, there will be letter that lists how the contributor’s funds has been utilised, for example, to purchase 20 wheelchairs for disabled persons and where the disabled persons live and their contact number.

“This will restore confidence in contributors knowing that their charity work is being taken seriously, these are a few of my suggestions,” Anwar said in his address at the YWP welfare and education fund launch.

Anwar added that he wanted to ensure this new practice was implemented as soon as possible.

“Starting now, we want to adopt a method that is truthful and good management,” he added, indicating that this new practice will start with the YWP welfare and education fund.
