KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the nation to adopt a determined mindset in the drive to unlock the full potential of the country's Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning and development.

He said the public, especially those resistant to change, should embrace a more forward-looking attitude towards technological advancement.

This follows a question about how the government plans to manage the workforce if AI were to render certain roles redundant during a dialogue session with visitors at the Madani Government's One-Year Anniversary Programme at Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

Anwar said the nation must focus on cultivating the right mindset that fosters adaptability, curiosity, and problem-solving.

"We have had the experience of going through industrialisation, automation and mechanisation before and I don't see it being a setback for us.

"What we need today is to increase the quality of work to progress with current times, which is why I urge MOSTI and the HR Ministry to look at the integration approaches."

He said the country has a lot of potential and linked his reasoning to why the government wanted to establish the country's first artificial intelligence (AI) faculty at the University of Technology Malaysia.

The prime minister also added the prospects to be positive as YTL Power International Bhd (YTL) is collaborating with Nvidia Corp to build artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure that will bring the fastest supercomputers to Malaysia by the middle of 2024.
